Did you know that thousands of children in Georgia live in unstable homes where they don’t have the financial resources for mentoring and academic support?  Although many of these children have great academic potential, they don’t have the financial and emotional support to get them through the grade levels necessary to receive the Hope Scholarship.

These children aren’t in foster care.  They are being raised by their grandparents or relatives in low income families.  For this reason, they are not included in the foster care free college tuition programs provided by Georgia’s Independent Living Program. This program provides state paid college tuition and other opportunities to foster care youth.  Without the opportunity of continuing education, these children have little hope of moving forward and becoming self-sufficient adults.

The Mary Ware Scholarship offers this group of promising teens the opportunity to achieve a college or vocational degree. Mary Ware offers a measure of support to the 200,000 struggling youth in Georgia who are often overlooked and lost in the hidden cracks of society.
